MECHANISM OF DEMOCRACY IN GOVERNMENT
Democracy means rule by the people. The word comes from the ancient Greek words’ ‘demos’ (the people) and ‘kratos’ (to rule). A democratic country has a system of government in which the people have the power to participate in decision-making.
There are four types of democracies:
- Direct democracy
- Representative democracy
- Constitutional democracy
- Monitory democracy
One of the most basic principles of a democracy is citizen participation in government. Participation is more than just a right—it is a DUTY.
